Paris for the Olympics by Mateo

Our trip to Paris was super fun! We flew from Alicante to Paris on Wednesday, August 7th. We planned this months ago so that we could be there for the Olympics. We stayed in Paris for 5 days.

The first game was the semifinals for men and women’s beach volleyball which was so fun and exciting. The stadium was outside next to the Eiffel Tower, and the music was loud. We had chants for different plays like “Monster Block!” or “Ace! Ace! Ace!”

The second sport was the men’s soccer final France vs Spain.  Spain won the final in overtime 5-3.  It was my favorite game because we got to see eight different goals.  The stadium was full of French people who were cheering so loudly.

The second to last sport was boxing.  It was so fun because the boxers were super good.  And it was just me and my dad.  We did a punching bag game. My dad got the high score of the day for the best accuracy. We ate pizza and had some soda together while watching.

Last but not least we watched the women’s volleyball final. It was USA versus Italy. Italy won all three sets, and we were very sad that USA lost. Unfortunately, my dad had eaten snails the day before and he got hives all over his body. He almost fainted while running up the stairs to the Olympics lounge, so the medical team came and took him to the medical tent. They gave him some medicine that made him very sleepy and he slept the rest of the day. He is feeling better now.

Other fun things we did In Paris were a scavenger hunt through the Louvre (my favorite part was seeing Nike the goddess of Victory; and the big sphinx statue from Egypt – with the body of a lion, the head of a king with a cobra on his head), riding the hop on and hop off bus called the Toot-Bus, eating amazing French food, learning to make croissants at a baking school (which was a lot harder to do and had a lot more butter than I knew), visiting the Eiffel tower at night, and seeing the Notre Dame cathedral too! I would really recommend visiting Paris because there is a lot of history and very nice people.
