The Best of Scotland - The Isle of Skye

              From London, we took a train ride straight to Edinburgh, Scotland. It took about four hours. Scotland is totally underrated! The places that we visited in Scotland were Edinburgh, Aviemore, Cairngorms National Park, and lastly Isle of Skye. Isle of Skye was one of the most beautiful places we have visited yet. In Isle of Skye there are giant green mountains with tons of sheep and adorable highland cows. Sheep were on every mountain that we came across. There were way too many to even count. But the highland cows were a bit harder to find. The highland cows were one of the most precious animals ever. We couldn’t get enough of them. We stopped 2 times to pet and feed the highland cows throughout our road trip. They are definitely worth stopping for along the way.

We did two hikes in Isle of Skye which we highly recommend; the first one was called the Fairy Pools. The reason why they are called Fairy Pools is because they are a series of natural pools of clear blue water that are formed from an icy cold waterfall. The pools are said to be a gateway to the fairy realm. The second hike that we did was called the Old Man of Storr. The Old Man of Storr should be on everyone’s bucket list! It is the best hike we have ever been on. The views are incredible! You first start near the ocean. Then you walk up some hills on a trail with grass surrounding you. As you climb up further it gets much windier and mossier and you see all the mountains. There are times when it’s cold, hot, hard, easy, etc. But in the end, the view is very worth seeing and you feel like you have accomplished something great! This hike is called The Old Man of Storr for a reason though. There is a legend where a giant died there and when he passed away, he was buried but his thumb was left sticking out of the dirt.   I really recommend this hike if you get to go to Isle of Skye one day!
